I am tired of THIS Church

Religion has worn people out, and this is why many are opting to do something else with their time. We are not providing them a service that they need. We are constantly reminding them of their sins/problems instead of teaching them practical steps to overcome it. We are more concerned about the absence of their tithe instead of their wellbeing. We now call discipleship a course instead of it being the blueprint to developing relationships with people. We do Community Service projects, but we have failed miserably at cultivating community within the four walls. Knowing those who labor among us is not a requirement. We are simply concerned about how they can serve our cause/ministry with their gifts, skills, time, or money.

Our service is so predictable, and there is no room for Holy Spirit to abide. On the rare occasion, He does show up we push him out the way to proceed with our program. Our sermons are about success, self-help, or ourselves; and people have found coaching programs get better results than our sermons. We are teaching about the mysteries of Heaven without helping people master living on earth first. We provide no solutions for life's problems outside of pray about it or sow a seed.

We provide opportunities for a good cardio workout via shouting music; but we fail to properly show people how to exercise the fruit of the Spirit. Teaching people how to love God, themselves, and their neighbor are not our priority even though it's what Christ commanded us to do. We are married to having powerless revivals, conferences, and workshops in an effort to keep up with others. We have exchanged the Truth of the Gospel for being "accepted" by a world who hates our Savior; and this is why many people are rejecting the need for Church. Asking themselves, "what's the point of showing up in a place that looks like where I am trying to leave?"

The church, as a religious institution, has lost its relevance because it has found the Gospel and the presence of Holy Spirit to be of no use to it. Until we find the value in the Gospel and God's presence again, we will continue to see people leave in droves in an effort to find identity, solutions, and community. The kingdom of God provides all of those things. However, we have stepped away from what matters to the King in an effort to build our own kingdoms we call churches/ministries. God is not responsible for maintaining anything He did not call us to or create. His church is alive and well. However, the church is dying because men prefer their kingdoms over his.

My prayer is that our eyes will be opened to our compromise; confess it before God; and repent. May what matters most to God begin to matter MOST to us. May what He desire to do in a service matter more than what we programed. May our motives be centered around making God famous and not ourselves. May we find the importance of helping/discipling others in better understanding their identity in Christ. Lastly, may the world truly know our churches/ministries are His by the way we love one another.
