Stop Frying Small Fish: The Church's Obsession with Beyoncé

So ‘Black is King’ came out, and the “Saints” were grieved and deeply moved to share prophetic warnings of Idolatry for those who watch it. I do not believe every single one of them were wrong, but it came off as SOME Christian opportunists using fearmongering and Beyoncé as a tactic to go viral. As I read a few of the critiques, this is my conclusion concerning the matter:

If Christians gave more attention to promoting  the Gospel of Jesus Christ than "exposing" Beyoncé and other celebrities, the church would better understand their identity in God and wouldn't be in search of another one. If we promoted the Gospel more than we criticized the world for being the world, we'd cover more ground for the kingdom of God. Considering the current state of the Church, Beyoncé is the least of the "Christian" problems. A lack of identity in Him and a host of other things take precedence over her.

People who understand who they are in Christ aren't swayed by Beyoncé OR your scare tactics to get people to turn their eyes away from someone or something YOU perceive as idolatry. Warning Christians about the world behaving as the world behaves instead of encouraging them in their identity, authority, and dominion in the earth is counterproductive. The Church has MANY problems, and  Beyoncé ain't it. However,  we can turn our focus to Racism masquerading as Patriotism, Sexism, idolatry of the pulpit/pastors, idolatry of marriage, idolatry of Mammon, promotion of sexual immorality in the name of Love, and denominationalism to name a few things. Here's a challenge for those who find themselves "grieved" by the way of the world, raise up a people who know who they are in Christ; and you won't have to worry about them following a stranger's voice/influence, including Beyoncé. I PROMISE  We, the church  of America, have BIGGER fish to fry than this documentary. Has God given you a word about those things yet?

P.S. I'm not part of the hive, but I am tired of the Church being distracted from what really matters. We have too much going wrong within to be pointing fingers at someone that's on their assignment,  good or bad. Let's get on ours so the world can know who we actually belong to...
